ECU Cloning Service

ECU cloning copies the immobiliser data, VIN and software from your original engine ECU onto a tested replacement. The replacement then fits plug & play – your keys work and no dealer coding is needed.

When cloning is the right choice

  • Your ECU is water-damaged, burnt or has failed beyond a reliable repair
  • You need a replacement quickly without dealer coding
  • You want to keep your existing keys and immobiliser

Questions people ask

What is ECU cloning?

We read your original engine ECU and copy its immobiliser data, VIN, software and adaptations onto a tested replacement unit with the same part number. The car starts and runs as before.

Do I need to send my original ECU?

Yes. Order the replacement with the Clone option and post your original to us. We read its data, copy it onto the replacement, test the replacement and send it back ready to fit. The original ECU itself is not tested or repaired as part of cloning – if you also want it tested, tell us first so we can agree that with you.

Will the car need coding at the dealer afterwards?

No. A cloned ECU is plug & play.

My original ECU is completely dead. Can you still clone it?

Usually yes. We can read the memory chips directly on the bench even when the ECU won't communicate. Tell us the symptoms in the form.

What's the difference between Clone, Immo-OFF, Reset and Locked?

Clone keeps your immobiliser working with your keys. Immo-OFF switches the immobiliser off in the software. Reset (virgin) is a factory-reset unit for a dealer or locksmith to code. Locked is the unit as removed from the donor car, for trade buyers who code their own.

Which ECUs can you clone?

Bosch EDC16 / EDC17 / MED17 / ME7 / ME9, BMW DME and DDE, Siemens–Continental SID and SIMOS, Delphi DCM, Valeo VD56, Marelli IAW and Denso. Send the part number on your ECU label if you're not sure.

Can you clone onto a replacement I already have?

Ask us through the form with both part numbers and we'll confirm.
